Suburban Scoopers was formed in 2009 when 2 existing franchises of another company decided to give dogs and their owners in the Chicago suburbs a better local alternative. All billing & customer service functions are now handled locally. Both areas have been served by the existing owners since 2007 and have been striving for an excellent service in their areas.

In the Northshore area to the Northwest suburbs the owner/operator is Philip Barasch. He is a longtime resident of Buffalo Grove and started the business after a 23 year career with a major retailer. Philip has 2 dogs of his own, Herbie and Elsa, and is involved as a foster parent for the Almost Home Foundation.

In the Western Suburbs the owner/operator is John Jefferds. After many years with two large dogs and Mounds of Brown, John “picking up where we left off” has become experts at “Doing Away With DOO.” So what better fit for them than Suburban Scoopers! Having owned a franchise of Great Harvest Bread Company for thirteen years, John is excited to be in business for himself again.

“I wanted to start a new business, but we knew it had to be something different,” said John. “Suburban Scoopers is the perfect opportunity for me. I along with Philip, get to be entrepreneurs again and work with animals, while providing a much-needed service that will keep yards fresh and poop-free.”
